Delta empowers physically challenged with N18.4m

uduaghanDelta State Government under its kitchen cottage grant scheme, has disbursed N18.4 million to 249 persons living with disabilities across the 25 local government areas of the state, to boost their businesses.
The disbursement was done through the office of the executive assistant to the state Governor on physically challenged matters, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Kingsley Emu, who represented Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan at the ceremony, told Daily Sun that the gesture was aimed at supporting existing businesses with additional funds while at the same time, identifying new ones.
Emu reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of the physically challenged, adding that they were also covered by the human capital development agenda in the state.
He stated that the programme was to reduce unemployment in the state and enjoined the beneficiaries to make the best use of whatever they were empowered with to enhance their skills and justify the interest of government in them by the investment.
The beneficiaries, according to the executive assistant to the Governor on physically challenged matters, Omasan Buwa, were selected in conjunction with the leadership of Joint National Association of Persons Living With Disabilities (JNAPLD) in the state.
